Thomassin is the safest town in greater Port-au-Prince. Paved streets, modern supermarket, no pigs or goats foraging in the street, no mounds of garbage. We all love Haiti, but one needs a refuge. You won’t find one like Thomassin in all of Haiti. Yet only minutes from the most important commercial and administrative centers as well as tourist sites:   Petion Ville: 5 miles. Baptist mission: 1.5 miles. Fort Jacques: 3 miles. Kenskoff: 5 miles. Furcey: 7 miles. US Embassy: 10 miles. Downtown: 8 miles.

Neighborhood

The Refuge is located in a safe and clean neighborhood: 75 yards from the Catholic cathedral, 1/4th mile from the Thomassin police Station. 1/4th mile from the modern Hispaniola Super market, 200 yards from the fish market.

House

Two-story residential house with 24 hour electric, invertor, generator backup, hot water, fully screened house, fans, porch, full kitchen, conference room, walled compound, parking, motion detector nightlights, security camera. We have 2 private bedrooms each with private full bath ($45 per niight), three shared bedrooms with 2 full bathrooms ($20 per night per guest).

Area

At 3,034 eet above sea level, stone houses, pine trees and steep mountains, Fermathe has the ambience of the Swiss mountains in summer. It is a regional breadbasket where 

peasants produce cabbage, onions, and carrots, Open air farmers markets are common. Hillside peasant plots are interspersed with stone manors and the finest collection of restaurants in all of Haiti.
